Tasi brings the Crest Pack - A Detailed Behind the scene of Alpha and Omega
Red carpet limousines caviar and bling! Nah that's not what we got to see at the TASI event on the MAKING OF ALPHA AND OMEGA! On 6th October "animationwalle" came face to face with the artists of Alpha and Omega, the behind the scene guys. TASI had the entire team-Layouts, Set design, Character Design, Modeling, Rigging, Animation, Texture, Fur, VFX, Lighting, Compositing, Rendering... did we miss out on anything, did we? No! They did not... They definitely did not. The event must have been the most comprehensive makings ever seen.
Mehul Hirani-creative head of Crest Animation Studios, with Madhu Nair-Modeling Supervisor, Rahul Dasgupta-Texture and Fur, Rupal Mistry-Layout Supervisor, Satish Thokade-Animation Supervisor, Sushant Acharekar-Lighting Artist took the audiences through Alpha and Omega's journey the stereoscopy way. How could we forget TATA CRL for rendering, (ofcourse they couldn't be present). The team acknowledged the fact that without them the rendering for the movie would have been next to impossible.
There are many breakthroughs that Alpha and Omega has made pertaining to the Indian animation scenario and there are many first timers for the studio itself, one of them being the stereoscopic vision. For us Alpha and Omega is pioneering, it is a movie that sets a benchmark for the Indian Animation film fraternity.
It was a great learning experience; of course it's a task compiling 3 years work in a 3 hour presentation (it went on for 4 hours) but definitely kudos to the team for sharing their experience with all; students, studios and freelancers.
The team vehemently answered questions coming from a packed audience. Mehul Hirani patiently answered basic questions to the most complicated techniques used for the movie.
We look forward to the movie releasing soon in India and it would be great when it comes live in front of all the budding animators. And also we look forward to TASI organizing many more such events that give us a complete insight into the making of the movie.
