hi
i have one confusion in my bouncing ball
..i saw many tutorials for bouncing ball and did the same...but here i want my ball to be bounce on the grass
..so i decided to video record it practically..and i did..it became 6sec video..in that the plastic ball (which children play with) only bounce once and then it bounce twice but on the same place and didn't go ahead
.. then it rolled down on the grass till it stopped..and also it didn't stretch n squash
but in tutorials.. ball bounce is shown for 31 frames 3 bounces (in 2D tutorial ) and
in 3D tutorial 1to 50 frames for only one bounce that means 6sec for 3 bounces..and plus with squash n stretch ..n rolling down of the ball approx. it will be like 7/8 sec in total..
so now which one should i follow.?..tutorials..the video..or what?...
please if any one can help me in this..

hi deepu,
our address is there on the TASI site. send us your reel.
hi prapul,
sorry i am very bad with books. no clue on that front.
however character design reminds me! Dont miss Anifest India 09 this year. We have a character design and art direction artist coming all the way from PIXAR! Dont miss out on his session. Check out sessions link at www.tasionline.org
hi paras,
sorry i have no clue what the school offers nor do i know what you are looking at. You are right. You are the best judge. All the best!
Hi encore,
timing will only come through practice. To begin with, observe the variety in timing all around you: people walking, trains passing, people talking, salesmen, sabziwaalis, office clerks!! There's timing everywhere!! First understand it then try to recreate it in your animation.
Hi vandana,
Sorry i have no clue what 'time remapping' is!!! is it something to do with the future??!!
Hi Shiva,
If a non-BFA student has brilliant work, the industry will definitely absorb him/ her. Its not the degree/ diploma but your work that matters.
I feel we are too busy learning software and getting a job in the industry! The desire and capability to tell our own stories and make our own films is a long way off!! Pixar and Disney are even further away!!!
We have at least 500 institutes trying to 'train' students and 'fit' them into our industry. I think its high time we laid more stress on 'educating' our students and encouraging them to follow their strengths and their own ways of storytelling and film making. That's the only hope for growth.
Hi Vandana again,
yes we have tried 3d paint. pretty useful for painting textures.
Regarding the bouncing balls, i think your question is a classic example of the 'training' culture. Tutorials are not formulas for you to follow. They explain the fundamentals. Once you understand the basics, you can do it the way you want. However its great to hear that you tried out the action and got first hand info on how a ball bounces! And you are right! A plastic ball will obviously not bounce nor will it stretch or squash. Have you tried a rubber ball?? or a crazy ball? a football or a basketball? Keep exploring and all the best!
hi Neeraj,
we look for inspiring work. if you think you have it, send us your reel. Beyond that if we have an opportunity where we think we could use your services, then hopwfully we'll work together.
Thanks a lot Shivender!
Hi Amit,
Sorry we aren't currently in the need for animators. However do send us your reel so we can keep you in mind if something comes up.

Hello sir, It's great to see that you take some time for guys like us, answering all our queries, (sometimes stupid enough ), boosting us, advising us. I really thank you for this !
Need some advice from you on one of my problem... I have lot of things going on my mind, new concepts, new stories and even new characters. I see lot of never seen before characters, i sit down to draw them and i just go blank, i can't draw even a tiny bit of it. I think of a story, try to get references regarding that concept, draw thumbnails, start posing them in 3D and then it's gone, i just can't move ahead. I loose all faith in my concept. I however try to convince myself that, whatever it is, i should just complete the project, for sake of practice, to get myself to perfection... but i just can't. There are bunches of unfinished projects on my hard-disk. Complete with my thumbnails, lots of reference and initial part in 3d. I am at that stage when i have started seeing my mistakes in animation. Whenever there is a mistake, i just start loosing faith and confidence in that particular assignment. And it remains unfinished. Sometimes i get stuck at start, how to start, how to do a starting pose etc. I always actually try to and wanted to do some unique poses and just want to avoid cliched poses. I donno, i am more obsessed with getting my poses to look cool and perfect. I really don't know if this problem is unique to me or all face it sometime or other. Can you please guide me out of this terrible thing !!!

hi abhijeet,
i am not too much into that subject. However we see loads of dynamics in films all around us: be it fluids, fur, smoke, etc.
I am sure anything done well has tremndous scope! So master what you love doing and do it well.
Dear Niku,
Unfortunately yours is a medical case of MPSS or Moving picture & Storytelling Syndrome! In the early 70s a copule of animators in the United Pictures Studios, LA were detected with MPSS. Its an occupational hazard and commonly found amongst our fraternity. Sadly there isnt yet a complete medical solution for it as yet.
Sorry. just kidding!! However i feel that your excitement lies more in creating stills than in moving pictures or films. Have you ever considered Comic art or graphic novels? Concept art and character design for films and games might also be specializations you could look into. You dont need to tell your story if it doesnt excite you. But you could contribute to visualizing others' stories!
Hope this helps. All the best!

Hi Vaibhav.
How are you? Just got curious about your participation when working for Ad Agencies. Once you said Ad agencies do consider your creative solution & suggestions. But what if some concept comes entirely from you or your team.
Are they open to take?
I would be happy if you give example, which came from your side for any product...
