Unofficial Animation session/war No.1 :)

Hi guys,

this is the WIP thread that we are going to post our stuff, for comments. This is about the session discussed in this thread :

TOPIC :

A guy smelling a flower, finds it nasty smelling.. how does he react? Its your creativity from there.


RIGS :

Any rig, from floursack to basic guy.

DEADLINE :

January 10th 2008

DURATION :

Anything from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.. Not more than that. The goal is to improve both creativity and work flow and to have a little filler piece on our demoreels if it turns out good.

All though this is a WAR (Yeah! bring it on!!) its not about winning or loosing. Its about working towards a goal, getting comments and improving. However, the tantrics will vote for a winner.

ELIGIBLITY FOR ENTERING :

Must be human, no aliens allowed.
Must use normal computers and/or other animation mediums like 2d or stopmotion or cutouts. (any body using/taking help from droids, humanoid robots, cyborgs or duck eggs, other than for reference purposes, will be disqualified and further renegated to the dooms day death fall center of rehabilitation).

WINNER's PRIZE :
Bragging rights.

To be eligible for the prize,
The winner must upload a movie with all work in progress shots of his, as well as any key workflow points in the form of screen grabs (like starting stepped and splining will be shown as a "stepped graph image" and "splined graph image", and must provide a small walkthrough of how they approached and finished their shot, along with their time management and their approach.

If only one user (me) participates, he will not be liable to do the above. Only if more than one users participate, does the winner's prize come into the picture..

Let it on!! Post anything, from video reference, to thumbnails to poses and what not!!

Very cool! So, 2D is allowed, right? If its done is 2D, one has to show the planning thumbnails and timed Keys, breakdowns, etc as their WIP...Right?

Hey there Ashutosh,

Yes, do participate. Don't hold back just because you're new. Believe in yourself, and just do it. Don't worry about winning or losing. Just love animating... "failing to try is trying to fail"..... Don't you say that in your every post? So, animate away!

some points to say...

1) i have already started it . i m not sure that i vl hit the deadline. but even if i dnt, i vl still complete it and post it in finished work region.

2) m not at all gud at sketching . i try too much but it just doesnt happen. so i dnt make thumbnails. rather i make it directly 3d watever pose i think and act. i know it's a time-eater.

3). i have frst time followed "stepped blocking" method. otherwise, i used to break my animation acc. to actions, then follow pose to pose, n then refining thru straight ahead method. thts how i used to complete my whole animation doing action to action. BUT I LIKED "BLOCKING" METHOD. although i bit confused when i splined it. but its gud.

hey DJ, u have seen my work. any comments on my approach to that?
