Its encouraging to see that you guys are thinking very real world and not immediately going for something really crazy. The reference images look good there Lightpunk, look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Hey looks good, I was considering having a similar background rocky area but was unsure if this breaches the composition rules, if not I'll go for it I think.
@ Lightpunk - Good to see this one getting kicked off, look forward to seeing the progress!
@ Drewsen - Definintely go for it! As long as you are utilising the main 3D layout and not totally diverting from that, you can add whatever you choose to make it real and immersive.
Here's another very rough WIP. At the moment just trying out different bits of photoref for storefronts etc. At this stage still experimenting with layout haven't done much in terms of colour correction or integrating in neatly yet.
Thanks for the encouragement to keep going. Kind of made me feel like we're in a matte dept all on the same team.
I like your old west theme and also think it's interesting how you're starting with textures. I think I'll throw some building textures on mine later after I get off work and see what starts to happen.
wow loving those textures!! great sense of place! really looking forward to how this is going, can feel the heat, taste the dust and that ghost town vibe,
thanks for the comment kris... looking forward to your next wip... its been a while wondering what the large building will turn into?, the buildings are hard to keep track of huh? I numbered mine from left to right but still get lost in my mega layers... dave
Thanks Dave! Yep, been away for a few days but back on the case now! The large building has been giving me trouble, its a big giant for the scale of the other buildings, trying to make it into a big saloon/hotel as we speak...
the facade can be bid lower the roof down a storey and you have a large hotel sign, put in a water bucket behind the sign, then you will get away with the size.
