How age matters in vfx or animation industry, can anybody start learning vfx or animation at the age of 30 with any hope at all?

Hmmm...there are 2 views for this. For employment Age may matter. Companies in any sector look for young people as freshers or experienced people if they have years of experience. So if you are 40 year old fresher, chances are quite less to break-in.

For learning, there is absolutely no age limit. Its your own life and don't let anyone dictate what you can do or cannot do with respect to age.

And really no one can answer that question but you. How can anyone know whether you would be able to learn or not?

Default Some common questions..!!!!

Hi, can anybody help me to answer some questions plz...

First of all, I would like to know the difference between demoreel n showreel..

Secondly, Is it necessary to make a demoreel or showreel a video one.. can't I show my renders images in a video rather then making short clips of my rendering and lighting works... ???

Also, Suggest for the things I should go for my rendering show (weather I should show Interiors or I should go for Exteriors or Character lighting or etc... ) Plz suggest some things I should represent in my demoreel or showreel....

- Regards, Mohit

Demoreel n showreel are both the same.
Its always better to have a video than still shots.

sir..
i want to know that how often do you use Trax Editor or Dope Sheet when you have an option like Graph Editor...
at which situation you would like to use the Trax Editor/Dope Sheet instead of Graph Editor??
or is it that people dont use those two because graph editor makes life so easy for an animator??

i hope to get the answers.

thank you

I hope u teach the technical part also ,
Creativity is developed not tought.
It will become very difficult for ur students if they are not technically sound .

@sudipto1990
As far as I know
Graph editor is maily used.
but u still need to have good knowledge about the rest.U will have no idea when it will come to ur rescue.
------------------
lets think if u have a shot where u r not sure whether a slow motion will look good / fast / a nomal one.
In that case u can animate with normal frame rate, then try ur luck in trax/dope.
There are multiple ways u can use it.I am sure u will get as u learn .

My piece of advice.Creative fields like animation and vfx are people who truly love their choices.Prepare to face many ups and downs.Stay away from creative fields,if your main aim is to earn money.

Hello friends,
First of all thanks to the administrator who have started this important topic.
But my question is not related to making career in this field, but to know the scope of this field right now.Because i have heard my negative response of this field. Therefore i want to ask what is genuinely going on in this 3d field right now(particularly regarding vacancies ).I hope the correct answer will come out from you guys.

i reside in mumbai. i m 21 now. hard for me to hear but, there are rumors that getting jobs in 3d field has become tough job. freshers stand no or less chance. is it true or fake rumors. if yes then what can help freshers for getting jobs. is a good show reel good enough? is there any age competition?

@ironclad:- i think good show reel is enough but u need creativity also and if u have knowledge its shows in your show reel and i think its enough for get a job and you are just 21 so you have lots of time to do a new thing.so don't stuck at one place and just work on your thought...keep working......
