need help , i am new to maya !

hey guys , my name is vijay n have been learing photoshop n maya on my own for 3 months. rite now i have learnt modeling and texutring a little bit.. i have been looking through gallery section in cg tantra n saw some amazing modeling work ..wat i wanna know is that how do u guyz make the final output..? like i understood the modeling part but wat about the background of that modeling ? is that just an image ? or those also have been built in maya itself.. ?? if thats pic in the background then how is it composited, can i find any tutorial reagarding this..

Its depend on artist. that could be 3d scene or an image too. for composting an image in to the background you need to match camera to your image camera angle.
