Land of Unohla:Riaha by Pegahoul

Hi there everyone, this is my first time participating in this forum, and actually first time I try Matte Painting.
I hope I can have fun with this contest and learning at the same time ^^

My impression on Riaha when I read the description was a circular spire/pillar-like cliffs circling the central pillar.
Here are my composition sketch and photos:

The photos are taken when i went to China. The texture for the cliff-pillars are taken from a cave (forgot the name).

I'm still brainstorming and open to suggestions.
Please comments and critiques.

Oops, maybe the forum automatically adjust the size because the file I uploaded supposed to be bigger.

Well there isn't much detail yet ^^ but there you go. Still very raw.

Trying to find the right shape and color. Working on various alternatives. Will post when I see something good.
Should I stick to the photos available or make it more... fantasy? The background mountain I mean....
