Hey Renuka..
Good that you are wanting to come in 3D Field..
Really the center does play a major role in education but after that you also play a big role to achieve your Goal.
And after that its a vast field coz
1. Modeling
2.Textureing
3. Lighting
4. Animation
5. Rigging
6. Dynamics
hell lot of things are there to do..
as far as knowing concern see the Faculty is having thorough Knowledge of the softwares, Does he have any production experience if yes ask him abt the projects he handled, which projects where he was, the best thing i suggest u ask the students there how faculty teaches..
How indepth he teaches..
See specialization totally depends on ur own intrest u can take what u wanted to do from this animation course say modeling artist or lighting artist or what ever u feel gud doing it..
u can go through with Digital tutors, Gnomon classes or Fxphd tuts..
may be that will help u a lot..

1. Is there good future/job prospects in Indian 3D animation field after my diploma ?

- Depends what your definition of good future is.. .. If you work hard and are really good at Animation ..I am speaking with respect to Animation mentor.. then you have a good future

2. Am i right to pursue there at ICAT, Bangalore ?

- Depends on the faculty who is teaching. I guess you should ask them to talk about their career and specifically ask them to show their Demo reel. You be the judge then if its worth learning from them. Faculties always never show their reels. They should be proud they know the subject well and should be confident to show their reels

3. What quality a 3D Animator should possess to compete international/National level.

- Check out this Blog.. I think you will find answers from the Best people out there. http://www.animationtipsandtricks.com/

- No offence to any Animation gurus on cgtantra.

4. After my diploma what should be my designation/specialization ?

- While you learn you will be taught different areas of Production. Its better you understand the complete Pipeline properly from Modelling to Compositing
Then choose your specialization.

5. please provide me some good website links to read more on 3D animation.

- Questions like this should be Googled .. It always has an answer

Only if you are the best of the best. There is no place for mediocrity. too many people and too few jobs.

2. Am i right to pursue there at ICAT, Bangalore ?

Personally ALL are bad. No inst. in india really know what they are doing. they just want money. best way to find out id to talk to some curent or ex-students.

3. What quality a 3D Animator should possess to compete international/National level.

Simply the highest. if you reel cant make a employer fall of his chair with your demo, you probably wont get the job.

4. After my diploma what should be my designation/specialization ?

as angel_arrows said

5. please provide me some good website links to read more on 3D animation.

general 3d animation is different from character animation. see which one you wanna get into and then Google it.
