Default How should i start my portfolio?

Hi guys! I am currently working in a small studio as a fresher! Professional says i do good in my modeling section! But what i know is that i have a very old portfolio and i myself not satisfied with it's quality. And the place where i work, the work load is tremendous. have to enter by 10 and gets to go home at about 9.30pm. More over a tiring 3hours journey up down from home and office is really frustrating me. I know i have to manage it in between these circumstances and i am up to it, but gets confused how to start? confused From where to start? Please give me suggestions. I need advice from you people.

I'd say Weekends and holidays are you best and safest bet ! We as artist work too hard, sometimes even without sleep .. so its better you take care of your health first and work during your weekends on your portfolio. Also since your doing work professionally get a consent from your respective studio to make a Breakdown of your modelling and add in those lunch time hours if you can .. Hope this was usefull . and good luck !

Thanks! But is it enough?
i mean we have to work at Saturdays and that is also full time! And more over working there i am learning tip and tricks only on those things that i know. Nothing new to learn and experiment over there! I wanna work on zbrush in a detailed level, want to know about it more deeply... should i learn first? should i work first? or both at the same time...

learn and work at the same time. There is no point leaving a job and studying. Tell your employers that you have a course/classes on sunday. Maybe you can find a rented apartment near your work place ?

See the modelling reels of people on youtube or vimeo, decide what sort of work you want to present on your reel, and start making it.
