long shadows, blueness in shadow area and orange highlights are the basic things that define a evening scene/lighting

Check your lighting for these.

Right now the lighting colud also be mid day/noon.

Hey there,

Nice work but i think there r lot of things to learn for u..
Make a mood of light, try to see the reference of Evening shots,
1. Evening has to be soft and blurry shadows.
2. The tree is not looking good.
3. Work in ur contact shadows and more over u cant get 100 % output in maya render u have to comp it a bit so try to render ur shot into passes and then merge it in a compiing software like Nuke of Fusion.
4. Always have different lights in different passes say for example For Key light one layer, Fill one, Occlusion one separate layers or i should say diff passes,Then comp it.
5. Tray to feel the mood of ur scene and accordingly choose objects fot those.

Hope it willb informative for u.

Thanks.

Nice model you got there, you could do so much with it

There are few things why this image is not looking convincing:-

1> The clouds are implying that the Light source (SUN) is at the back of the scene. Thus, the reason as to why your lighting setup is not well suited.

2> Try browsing through some of the evening shot in web. You'll find that usually evenings are warm even tone and have long and soft shadows. Compared to which your scene is too saturated.

Anyway there are lot of improvements to be made but you should totally have a reference while working with a scene.

Perhaps your lighting setup would have more suited for a night environment.

Sorry for making changes on your image but you'll get an idea..
