hi guys m a learner i wnt to know in studio for job opportunity u should know every thing? mean modelling to rendering........ bcz m confused........ i wnt to bcme texturing and lighting artist and m doing hard work on it ... ... but my faculty says to me that if u wnt to job in studio u know every thing...so pls tell me about wht should i do can i continue my learning process in lighting feild cz its difficult to go back and learn again....pls help meeee...:(:(:(:(

is 2gb ram enough for me??

hi frns..rite now i have Intel core 2 duo 2.20 ghz cpu wit 2 gb ram.. i recently upgraded to 2gb ram, first i had only 1gb ram , upgrading did make a difference but for worse :-( whenever i work on photoshop with 2408 x 2408 textures my pc starts to hang and lag ... i had created a model in zbrush when i had only 1gb ram and i was able to work on it smoothly but since when i upgraded to 2gb ram i can't load the tool anymore :-( ... i thought may be my pc is infected with viruses i ran scan with THREE antivirus programs , norton, avg, kasperkey.. no virus was detected by any of them..i dont know what the hell is wrong with my pc... i never had that much problem with 1gb ram... pllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaase help!!!

I submitted a digital painting I made with corel Painter 11. I really would like to make it to the top 25 to be judged. You only have to register and make a password. Then click LIKE so I gain another vote. The next day you go to already registerend then click LIKE again. You can vote one a day. I really hope to win any of the prizes. I had a spinal injury 6 years ago and really need a new computer. It would be greatly apprciated.

Hello Friends

The reason why i am writing this is because i am looking at the cg animation industry in India from last several years.I do not know really how you will peple react this or some will think about that i am stupid.
The following are my some thoughts about animation industry in India.

First of all we all Indians know as a cheap labor in the country's like US and UK.Now it is become a shop rather than having a passion about the making a movie or doing some cool work.people come in this industry because they have a passion about it.right now everyone is going from CG Animation to Live action.everyone started working on converting 2d movies to 3d movies....what is going on here....???? they are hiring artist like a mad.Now days there are lots of institute are taking lots of student by telling them that they will give you job 100%. I really do not know many student are coming out actual after completing there course or diploma...if we calculate that it must be minimum 500 student (as per our India's population it must be more)
.Now we have to ask question to our self is there are any jobs for this much artist?
If we talk about lifestyle what we vfx artist or any CG animation field guy,it is bad.there are not enough holidays.most of the time they work day and night.sometimes Sunday's also.There is no family life.There are lots of people are frustrated with this industry as i do.
Every year because of VFX industry we see cool visual effects in the movies but in return studios get penny only (in Mumbai language it is called chiller). Studio suffer losses and then the employees and that ques goes on and on...To get rid of this loss studio hire less artist and ask them to finish the job as fast as they can.so artist works day and night and finish the job...after that job done the another job is in line.who is getting pissed up here only artist...nobody else.
I also really want to talk about our Bollywood directors and producers.They want to make cg animation movies but do not want to spend money and time in it.they will make crores of ruppes movies which will be big flop movie but will not spend money on animation and VFX.they will make a 1-2 crores to make a one set for one song,but when you talk about animation budget and increase 1-2 crores in it they will go mad...will there mentality will changed????

This are some of the issues....we can dicuss more and more on it but nothing will change.... :)

Hello friends ...I spend a lots of time study about Gamma and monitor calibration.Now I want to calibrate my monitor.But I am a bit confused .I have samsung SyncMaster2033w lcd monitor and my motherboard has a nvidia geforce 6150 inbuilt gpu.The problem is that weather i use my lcd's brightness ,contrast controls for calibration or use video card's controls..
I am using this PAGE for caibration.Please help me I am badly suffering with this problem....

how to fix seams in photoshop?

hello folks! i am new to texturing and have been texturing a human lately , i made two separate uv maps for both face and body..now the problem is i see a big noticeable seam between head and body that i can't fix the life of me :-( ... someone told me that i need to take a patch of the texture either from the head color map file or from the body color map file where the seam is ...and blend it together where the two seams meet .. well! i tried tried and tried but seam is still there ...just wanna know how do you guyz fix that issue..coz it seemed very tedious to do that in photoshop.. and i would really reallllllllllllllly appreciate if anybody can provide me with some good tutorial links ...plzzzzzzzzzzzz :-(

well m riggin a female...i have completed the leg...bt ven m rigging the spine wid spline Ik...den m having some problems...the tings is...after applying spline ik nd creating cluster....i am point constraining the cluster wid the control objects...nd parenting the control objects wid the main control...bt ven i am parent constraining the main contron wid the root m getting some wrong movement...i ve atttached the image plz see it...nd comment wat is worng...

Dear all tech. people,

I'm facing a problem for the last one week with my maya 2009 render. When render especially big files(using phone, visor and other materials) it shows an error msg. " out of memmory ! can't allocate 6746464 byets etc."

My paging file size is 4 gb.

Other details are:-

RAM : 2X 2 GB (DDR3) : TOTAL 4 GB.
OS: WINDOWS XP
C DRIVE: 80 GB.
PROCESSOR: CORE 2 QUAD 2.66 GHZ
NO GRAPHIC CARD (ONBOARD VGA)

Kindly help me to solve the probelem as I cant access most of my render for one week.

Please help me.....

i need help on modelling

LIke if I was modelling the male torso and the other side of the model would auto copy while I'm editing and tweeking on the side i'm modeling
and i will be duplicating the one side of the model and then i would create it as a instance and i want that one side of the model should be smooth and the other will be the rough poly and if i tweak the rough poly then the smoothened one torso of the other side would show me changes for creating the muscles in the body so
how will i do that by !!!!

why don't we make a movie TOGETHER

I was going through all the posts here on CGTantra and was amazed to see how much talent there is. Then I had this crazy idea why don't we all work together and make a short movie, perhaps of 30-40 mins in length. Think about it. everyone could work in his/her spare time. it would take several months to complete the project but once it is done, it will be a marvel. we could also gain interest of several investers/producers out there.

if anyone is interested, please let me know. I already have a story in mind.

Taking step further now I am planning to establish my full flagged website which will have my all future movie...like animation film, documentary film and other film video as a part of portfolio and tutorials...

My main motive to create this website is not for my portfolio but its for free training and tutorial stuffs. There will be full training from start to end.

But here I stuck with name of that website.. :confused:
You people will may laugh but I believe bit in Astrology :p or some lucky alphabet.. as I feel and believe My luck alphabet is 'G" and I am in search or word which is related to animation or Film field and it should start from 'G' Alphabet...
