Hey Zbrushers and everyone who loves CG Art,

My name is Kenny and I am a student for Digital Media in 3D Modelling and 3D Sculpting.
I have been learning ZBrush myself for about 5months now and I'm practicing and sculpting every day to get better, sometimes its frustrating seeing others so good, but that is even a bigger motivation and inspiration for me. So thanks every artist out there who inspires me!!

Here are some newer works of mine and hopefully you like it. I am practicing ZBrush everyday and trying my best to get better, but still have a LOT to learn. My daily basis is human anatomy, at least 1-2 head per day to get the anatomy of the face right.So would be great if you all could give me a little advice and judge my work, what you think that is not so good and what is good. Please comment and help me to learn from my mistakes.

New Show Open Debuts this Saturday with UFC� 143 Live on Pay-Per-View

Los Angeles, CA—February 2, 2012— Zuffa, LLC, owner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship� (UFC�) brand, turned to Digital Domain to create a new show open for its legendary matches, set for debut at UFC� 143: DIAZ vs. CONDIT live on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on Saturday, February 4. The :60 second piece combines archival footage of iconic UFC bouts mapped into entirely imagined backgrounds that illustrate how mixed martial arts has evolved from a niche following into one of the biggest sports worldwide and includes a score by famed film composer and music producer Hans Zimmer, through his company 14th St. Music. The new show open will air on UFC Pay-Per-View programming.

“The UFC is heading into a new chapter and taking the brand to the next level,” said Dana White, UFC President. “We’ve had the same show open for the last 9 years and with this monumental FOX deal, and the global expansion of the UFC, we wanted to come up with a new show open that paid tribute to the fighters who helped us build the business and grow the sport.”

When Digital Domain first met with UFC president Dana White, he wanted a new show open that conveyed the full breadth of the UFC’s history while also showcasing the various fighting disciplines represented by the stars of the sport. Huxley, a director with Digital Domain’s Mothership, came up with the concept of illustrating UFC’s rise from the gym to the mega-stadium as a metaphor for the ascent of the sport, featuring iconic moments from real UFC matches dating back to its inception in 1993. With each tap out, blow, punch and kick, the strength of the fighters causes the concrete of the mat and surrounding structure of a dark run-down gym to fracture and crumble away. The debris clears away piece by piece, through generations of MMA gyms and fighters to reveal the rise of a new Octagon� with huge steel lighting girders that come up through the floor. With the impact of each demolishing blow timed to the music, the new stadium constructs itself around a rotating cast of famed UFC fighters, to eventually reveal an epic, modern arena filled with 120,000 fans.

“I am a big fan of the UFC, and have boxed and been around fighters since my early 20s. It’s a world I am very familiar with,” said Huxley. “It’s a true warrior sport. It’s explosive and amazing to watch. The nature of this kind of combat is no joke. It’s the fastest growing sport in the world and they needed a show open to equal the spectacle of their live event. Dana invited me to watch a fight ringside and the atmosphere was electric. I said if we can bottle some of this energy and convey that through the piece then we are onto something. That was when we came up with the evolution concept. Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta brought their passion for mixed martial arts to the mainstream, and I was fortunate to collaborate closely with them to bring audiences these iconic moments that are truly the lifeblood of the sport.”

Huxley started by sifting through hours of archival footage and working with Dana to identify the 29 seminal fights, of which 18 made it into the piece. Digital artists worked with Neil to remove the fighters from backgrounds in the archival clips while an animation team began building CG environments and set pieces. Once an animation was locked, the Digital Domain team tracked and animated 3D digital human models, lining them up precisely with the fighters’ motion, to enable the simulation of real-world lighting and seamless matching of the fighters into CG environments. Digital Domain employed a team of 20 artists to complete this project in ten weeks.

Walt Disney acquires controlling stake in India's UTV

Walt Disney's expansion plans in India have received a big boost as it agreed to acquire a controlling stake in UTV, one of India's biggest media companies.

The move comes after India's cabinet approved a proposal by Disney last month to buyout shares in UTV that it did not previously own.
The companies did not disclose how much Disney will pay to acquire the stake.

International firms have been looking to increase their presence in India to tap into the fast growing market. "Increasing our brand presence and reach in key international markets is a cornerstone of our growth strategy," said Andy Bird, chairman of Disney International.

Increasing presence

Disney has already made forays into the Indian market and currently operates three TV channels in the country. UTV is known for its film and television production as well as gaming and animation in India.Disney said that the acquisition of the Indian firm will give it an opportunity to further enhance its presence in a market which has a growing consumer base.

"This acquisition expands our footprint significantly and allows us to more effectively build, monetise and brand multi-platform franchises, and deliver a rich library of content to the world's second largest population," said Mr Bird. Disney is planning to delist UTV, which is traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange.
It has named UTV's CEO and Founder chairman Ronnie Screwvala as the managing director of the new entity.

Former DreamWorks Animation and Framestore executive to drive company’s visual effects business

Venice, California -- January 31, 2012 -- Digital Domain Productions, a subsidiary of Digital Domain Media Group (NYSE: DDMG), has named David Lipman vice president of features visual effects production. The 30-year industry veteran, a former executive at DreamWorks Animation, Framestore and USAnimation, brings expertise in visual effects, animation, production and development to the company. He will be based in Digital Domain's Venice, California studio reporting to Jody Madden, who has been promoted to senior vice president of global studio operations, overseeing production, technology and operations for all of Digital Domain's worldwide studios.

Digital Domain Media Group CEO and Chairman John Textor said, "Digital Domain has grown significantly in the past few years -- from a single studio to now seven locations worldwide. Our talent base and digital production services have expanded, and we've expanded our leadership team accordingly to drive all areas of our feature film business. Lipman joins Digital Domain to drive the features visual effects business, curating and guiding talent and working closely with studios. FMX loves to break new ground. With its interdisciplinary focus on the convergence of film, TV, computers, consoles and mobile devices, Transmedia has whole lot of new discoveries to offer. Curated by Inga von Staden, this year's track features renowned speakers such as Prof. Henry Jenkins who ranks among the most important Transmedia scholars or Nuno Bernardo, the award-winning writer, producer and founder of beActive. At FMX Henry Jenkins will give an exciting overview over the expansive topic including some of his own research topics and results that have already turned into Transmedia classics. Get your hands on theory: Nuno Bernardo will provide the FMX audience with practical insights on Transmedia production pipelines such as his very own interactive on-line series Sofia's Diary - the first international series of its kind.

FMX doesn't have its head in the clouds - on the contrary. Cloud Computing promises huge practical benefits by enabling shared remote computing resources and lowering the barrier of entry to high-performance computing. But what does that mean for animation and visual effects production? We're going to find out as FMX will feature a series of sessions on this very timely topic. Curated by Ludwig von Reiche, Senior Director for Business Development of NVIDIA, this track will explore current offerings of Cloud Computing and their relevance to animation, games and visual effects production. Thinkbox Krakatoa for Particles
FumeFX for Fire Simulation
R&DGroup Multiscatter for crowd simulation
Adobe AfterEffect for Compositing
Adobe Premier for Final Edit

We use 3dsmax PFSource for crowd making but its very heavy at the render time....so we try Multiscatter.... Its render very fast & easy to manage....Memory management of multiscatter is really awesome....

This film is not for commercial use so i use sound track from Expandable Movie 'Royal Rumble'

few cameras are little bit jerky, & we don't have time to re render it....:-(

I want a similar but realistic and better model of engine room, consisting of engine, pumps, piping, a control panel, structural elements like racks etc..

Hi friends,

I'm a person with love and passion for animation. but I got a weird situation, basically, I'm pursuing my final year BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING in MECHANICAL department, my situations and conditions put me into engineering, but I have a big craze over animation...but, I'm afraid that If I pick ANIMATION field to proceed my career, my 4 years of B.E Mechanical will get wasted and so I have a big question mark as WHAT TO DO NEXT?
Though, I'm an Mechanical student, I don't have much interest in proceeding my career as a industrial worker because there is no much opportunity available to prove our creativity and imagination.It's my life and I want to live with what I choose in a better way... pl z I'd like get few useful guidelines from you...

I have few question to ask you...some of my questions sounds bit old but here it goes...

1. Is it good, to change my career from engineering to animation???

2. Will it be difficult to cope up with animation without having basic knowledge on it, which we get by completing some degree in Arts or something..?

3. Studying animation in India will be worthy one? or it will be better to study in foreign? How about animation mentor online school?

4. Is Animation mentor is a best online school to study animation? or else Is there any other animation college in foreign better than this?

5. Is there better job opportunities available in Animation field in India and foreign countries..???

5. If so, what will be the salary of an fresher as an animator in India and in foreign countries?

Pl z help me out with your valuable suggestions and solutions... :)
