Hi there....

I m doing a 1yr Diploma in Digital Animation which covered 2d also. Now its the time to choose my area of specialization.

I am good in photoshop and like to work on it for hours and Animation also intrests me. So here is a confusion about choosing one, between Texturing and Animation.

I want to take the decision on the basis of my long term scope in the Industry. I need to know which will be most appropriate one.

I would appreciate your guideline on this.

with thanks
GL

Second: U can leave the job and keep practicing at home..if u dont have any other prb...and try for some big studio where u can learn more.

Anyway U hav to learn more Everyday and update urself..:)

Hi all,

For geetlad,

I would suggest to understand first what is needed to be a Texture artist or character animator, (i mean employer look for both profession) once u got the clear idea about it & things u need to learn more/ u know & YOUR interest.....
you will be able to make decision fast.

For Day dreamer,

I would suggest to stick to ur work till u don’t get the sufficient self-assurance with presentable reel in rigging or as a character setup artist. Its not just about account balance u have, ur industry experience is what matters, & that’s what HR people look before negotiating with u…. ;)

& bishtmaesh..............RatA2ee.....is awesome
while watching raymee & his friend, u really feel to act out,
(I do repeat the dialogs while watching!)

eNjoy....

I think you should specialise in texturing and modelling, cause most studios want to hire a artist who can texture and model at the same time. Granted there are advertisement for texture artists out there, but a company would prefer someone who model as well. A kickass model without good texture is as bad as horrible model with a excellent texture.

All I can see you have decide what you like to do most when you do CG, pulling points/paint in photoshop or tweaking keyframes? Cause your interest would override your frustration when it comes to developing a piece
