Hello to all cgtantra folks….my name is Basil and I am an entry level Post graduate in computer applications from Bangalore. My home town is in Trivandrum, Kerala. Well, I have also been to Chennai for my Bachelors degree in Computer Science. Currently I am not employed anywhere and looking out for a career in IT industry mainly in software, networking and testing field based on my qualification.

I haven been attending interviews of all sort including BPO’s, getting desperate for sometime. To be frank I lack academic consistency, impressing aptitude and strong technical skill to convince most of the IT companies. Because of these major factors I lost many placement opportunities and adding to this there was no campus placement for me. But I know I can still get into the industry in networking or testing field for which I need to undergo extra training or has to take certifications in all available technologies.

Before taking another step, I am also interested in knowing about a career in animation, Because i heard the job opportunities available here are given not on the base of academic performance but on the base of creativity and experience. If I am wrong, please correct me. I don’t have experience since I am a fresher and requires some guidance ..but I do have some creativity because I have been using 3dsMax, Maya, Photoshop, Flash, Paintshop pro from my higher secondary ownwards to do some simple animation movies and mostly my time pass was in photo, sound and movie editing and I still use these tools whenever I feel bored. The only achievements I have gained during my academic career was some awards and prizes for a few painting competitions, which I have stated in my resume. Altogether I am a beginner in art…but an excellent dreamer…ha ha !

After doing some research I came to know that MAAC, Bangalore is offering some specialization course in Compositing & Editing, which are mainly visual effects. I love the Hollywood movies for their reality in projecting impossible situations unlike Indian counterpart which is still at infancy in terms of visual effects. I would like to learn vfx and is also interested in bringing new ideas of doing vfx without complicated facilities while making the Bollywood dramas run on a rollercoaster with screaming audience. I think, I just dreamt high..Sorry..as my companions used to say I am a guy with a vivid imaginations…..I am interested in doing this course…if possible I want to put all my vfx dreams in real…and I only wanted to know….

1. What are the necessary skill sets, required for a vfx artist ?
2. What is right course I have to take from MAAC so that I can become a vfx master ?
3. Is there any other reputed institutes that can offer more than MAAC in Bangalore in vfx ?
4. How is MAAC, Bangalore for learning vfx ?
5. Do I need to take PD3D course or just go for Compositing and editing course ?
6. How is the placement in MAAC, Bangalore ?
7. What is demand for vfx artist in Indian Film Industry, and what kind of candidates are they looking for in terms of technical knowledge and experience ?

Please shed any light to my ignorance about this field if you have found any…thnks
