Autodidactism
1.
Procedure
This is done analyzing it from the student perspective, and it is planned beforehand, with extreme detail, but not absolute.
The Methodology and the content must be original, because it is not possible to teach something that is not fully understood. In fact teaching requires a knowledge that must surround every possible solution, and not only one, it is from there, that the analysis is done.
Usually many bad teacher will do everything possible to impress their students, that will fall to a really bad education.
2. Guidance
Teach to learn, do not teach to copy, education is not a factory for automatons.
The student must find his own solutions, especially with basic techniques, that is also good for self-esteem, because in the end "Mastering in Animation" is a matter of getting Independent.
It is not necessary to teach with a series of procedures to understand a technique, that's a bad education that is popularized for the fact that coping is easier.
Education is self-discovering, and the correct procedure is to avoid specific procedures, routines.
The guidance comes when the teacher is there to orient the student in a process of investigation where the student realizes what is the best solution only by intuition and thinking, but never by a teacher cheating the solution, by coping and tellilng it from books, etc. no way, that's lame education.
3. Motivation
This is quite important especially in the very basic level, or the basic level of the basic level.
But in general without motivation the student will lose interest in more complex subjects.
The result of a lack of motivation will lead the student to alternatives, like coping and cheating.
One of the saddest consequences of modern but not advanced education is a growing anxiety to expose oneself. That will create an crowd of young people, totally confused about the joy animation is. It will become more important to gain recognition, which has nothing to do with real animation.
So for a good education, it is necessary to have many original resources for the only goal of motivation. Resources, like original videos, original rigs, original techniques, and procedures in a sense of guidance.
4. Ethics
Usually this is something that emerges when people is sincere with its work, trying always to do the right.
This is especially inherited with real autodidactism.
It is by nature, that people who tries to get better is usually perfectionist. The art of finding patterns.
The big flaw in education is Ethics, evident in many different situations, for example :
Advanced courses of animation, but those are not really advanced, in fact usually most schools offer very basic courses without procedures, and impossible to offer guidance, because teachers usually do not even understand the basics. Moreover they tend to be copycats, cheaters.
The twelve principles of animation, because those are popularized nowadays, they use them as a fact, again without understanding. Copycats again.
We gonna teach you the best, but that is of course not true at all, in fact, they will deceive you, so you will think that you are really learning, when in fact, you are not.
It's up to you, it depends only on you, yes you are the only one who has the responsibility, we clean our hands.
In conclusion unethical teacher will try hard to deceive the student, for their own convenience, and this is something that is not hard to achieve, so beware.
5. Autodidactism
This is one of the most important, it must be present since the beginning, don't turn your students dependant of books, tutorials, DVDs, schools, let them be free.
I say, if you fully understand it, then it belongs to you. otherwise that's NOT yours. Respect Copyright.
An Autodidact is the owner of their own knowledge.
Following the principle of being always an autodidact, will mean that the student is able to reach its own solutions, and will grow without depending in someone else. YES, because, we all have known people that likes to hang on someone else success.
LEVELS OF EDUCATION
1. INTRODUCTION
A general introduction to animation as a global overview of the process, for a good introduction. Good motivation is required.
This is the best level to show entertaining videos, but ideally original content. It means content that the teacher is able to teach. Otherwise the student must understand that it is beyond the education he is about to receive.
Usually everything must have a purpose.
2. BASIC
An extensive level. Everything basic, belong to this level.
› Navigation.
› All the basic theory, even if its not part of the course.
› Techniques, modeling rigging, etc.
› Animation techniques.
› FX, render, particles
› etc.
3. INTERMEDIATE
In this level, the students is supposed they already understands the basics, so this level should not waste time, with basic explanations. Here the students investigates much more advanced techniques, for example, organic realism. or complex rigging techniques. I see this level as a series of ateliers to fill the gaps of common techniques and find better solutions, this is a good level for experimentation and research.
4. ADVANCED LEVEL
This level is impossible to exist, it is not possible to teach how to become an expert, also this level would mean that the student is able to create new techniques which makes this level totally obsolete.
Usually the word Advanced is used to note that something is quite especial, carefully designed. This word applies to the basic and intermediate level. for example: An advanced course of the basic level. This would probably be used no note that the course is not like regular courses, with common procedures.
CONSEQUENCES OF BAD EDUCATION
* The most important is a general degradation, for example, the costs of animation are decreasing more and more, not only that, but also the quality of works. Cheap work, because there is a lot of manpower, but not specialists.
* Most techniques are copied by newcomers, this supports the use of inexperienced animators as nothing else but manpower.
* It makes difficult if not impossible to create successful projects, nowadays most fail, because of a lack of experience and quality work from its members.
* It support the creation of companies with bad reputation, and lack of ethics.
* It lags the development of animation in a country.
As expressed by Ruraqon the real face of education.
Hope it helps.
