I'm always curious about how some people get into the field - the world of 3D has really come into the spotlight now,but almost a decade and a half ago ago,it was unheard of. So my question is this - as a person who is studying/working in the 3D field, what was your trigger for entering the field?

I can say that mine was playing Need for Speed - ever since I bought a copy of NFS3 I could only think about how they made such a fantastic game.

So what movie, computer game or other event caused you to gain interest in,and eventually study/work in the 3D field? :)

hehe.. intresting topic.. well.. i started with a lot of gaming.. and always wanted to do something more than 2D drawings.. the whole things of seeing something in a 3d game.. have form.. was quite amazing as a kid.. and it is still something that drives me.. the fact that i can mix reality and fantasy.. to a point where the line becomes really thin..

okay
i was hardly 10-12 yrs old when i saw this ad... Bajaj Electricls. in that a Black Metal dressed man with a Tube Light in his hand :) cuts a paper electricity bill.. i wondered how it happens. my elder brother n sis made fun of that query of mine. but today i realise that was my first encounter with animation. i didnt looked at it as a profession but landed in this field 'cause of curiosity... tried engg - completed BSc chemistry and now posed as a 3D artist now :) im into it :))
thanks a many for the topic sidd.. and people who pateintly read me :)

Hi,
In my childhood days  i was watching(like every other kid) The jungle book, Alice in wonder land, Tales pin, Duck Tales and many more in DD1. People around me used to say that my drawings r good. I had my own drawing book. I used to draw whatever I liked. Some of my friends also had thier own drawing books. We used to watch each others works just like what we guys do in CGT. I used to watch lots of Hollywood movies. In discovery channel, programmes like Splat and Mega movie magic, Paleo world( I am sure that most of u hav wathced these) etc also motivated me. And even today i watch cartoon network( my favorite channel). It is from 'Splat' that I first came to know that there is proffesion called Animator, before that i didnt know. In those times I didnt had access to comp games. Today I am happy that I am working in this wonderful, colorful field:D .

Wow,so it seems like the thing that got most of us in this field was video games...simply amazing :)

For me, it was the movie Flubber. Jurassic park was awesome but I didnt want to get into animation when I saw jurassic park. But when I saw "Making of" of "Flubber", I immediately knew what I wanted to do.

Then it was splat that kept me informed a little bit. It was 1998 when I first found an institute that was talking about teaching all that stuff. Thats when I joined in.

As my elder brother used to play the games soon i really got interested into the games. Since my childhood i played games on video games/pc/etc. I was always interested in knowing how this games were made. The process of creating games like how first the characters are drawn, story is made and all those got my attention. At that time the games were 2d but soon the 3d world became known. To see what we can do with this is really amazing. A major game that inspired me was the final fantasy series(Final Fantasy VIII) which had a dance sequence. Though i was not able to play it but the realism they had in their games cinematics was awesome. I am a fan of watching movies with special effects where there no line between the imagination & the real world.

Oh, before you guys/girls go to sleep, i think i should now. Thank you for listening to me & sorry, for boring everybody.
