Here's a question for you all - we all use a variety of software,be it Photoshop, Maya, 3ds Max, Softimage XSI,etc,etc.,right? Now here's a question - what are your thoughts on listening to music while working on a model/animation/your next masterpiece? And if you do listen to music while you work,what genre? :)

I do listen to music,because for some reason,it helps me work faster - so when I think about ideas,I turn it off,but while working on the software,I turn it on. And I generally prefer stuff like Zero 7.

So what do you do?

I don't listen to music while i am modeling has i have to keep my mind think where edgeloop should go.
While texturing and fast modeling i listen to music.
Mostly depend on mood [Mostly rock]

Welll am an animator so while i block my poses.. the music it STRICTLY NO NO NO for me. I just concentrate on the dialouge and poses and timing.
Then when i am on the second pass....going from stepped keys to linear, then yeah a bit music might do. Then again while splining the graph...No Music coz i want the right things to hit on the right audio.
And when i am doing the fourth pass... the follow thru's and secondry's n polishing.. ROCK ON BABY !! Alternative n HARD ROCK...speeds up my work i dont know why ;)

I am a modeler and I found that listening to music doesn't pace up my work speed but It helps me engaged in my work but I prefer slow songs / instrumental than Rock as I feel that rock songs distracts me a lot while working so all in all it depends upon mood and deadline but music is also needed at times .

i don't listen to anything while i block in my animation.but once i start cleaning the graphs, i'll go for some rap or rock stuff. but never heavy metal.:cool:

usually listen to dream theater. . or some instrumental tracks from vai , satch . . sometimes ustad zakhir hussain and ustad allahrakha on tabla . . or pt. chaurasiya . . and sometimes rage against the machine :)
