Hi All,
i, I.Karunakaran, this is my first post in cgtantra,

i'm Working as a Lead Texture Artist in Fx Labs Studios Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad, India.

i wants to share my latest Digital Painting with you all,

I took one and half month of my spare time to finish this painting. I used photoshop7, wacom tablet.

I love very much old master "William Bouguereau"s paintings. After I affect deeply with his paintings I started to study his paintings. Thanks to William Bouguereau and major art source website www.artrenewal.org for their tremendous effort to help artists.

great job at recreating Bouguereau's La Charite, the result looks very close to the original one by him ,congrats :)

Have you used the image from artrenewal as a reference layer in PS ? it must have been a good exercise ,but personally I wish to see original paintings from artists, your own ideas using the very nice skills that you have gained. Recreating an existing painting is not really artistic in a sense, but a great technical achievement nevertheless that show your skills of using the tool.

I know its too late but..couldnt resist...
just tried some experiment with my friend in photoshop..and got this result...
the original artwork's outlines, colour patches and your(?) artwork's outlines and colour patches looks SURPRISINGLY similar !! this is just HARD TO BELIEVE...

I am amazed by such a BIG LIE actually its nothing but simple enhancement of light hue and saturation.
How can somebody call it a digital painting when its nothing but a touchup job .
Any photoshop user with a lot of spare time can enhance a great artists job and
call it his digital painting.
I totally agree with Shyamsriram and want all tantrics view in this matter.
Its a matter of big shame for CG TANTRA to choose this kind of cheap thing as a gallery display

i would like to display the WIP stages of the painting that won choice award.
its been a controversy around the painting as it is a fraud or something of that kind. I apologize for not displaying these images before and was not in town for a while.I would rather take it as a compliment as some people have a doubt about the painting. that was in deed a great insight into the process of your master piece, your Humble approach towards the critique and some expert's research white paper like comparison is much appreciated.

One thing I would like to tell everyone on this forum [ that includes some naive seniors ] plagiarism exists in abundance on the forum and we must at least take extreme care before we say some thing that might hurt an artist or his feelings, may be some times look at our own work and wonder that some one can always be better then us.


Guys lets deal the plagiarism in us first before attempting research on others work, and hurt artists on our forum at least .

I cant believe its a digital painting. I think its just a paintover with some levels and filters and is very poorly faked. Im sorry if this offends anyone. But its highly impossible to copy the strokes of another painting to that level. It just seems ...... so ridiculous to me seee this thread. I think we must have some respect for the great old masters and their works. I hope i see some authentic pieces of art here.

Wow, Its a real awesome work. Iam just wondering looking at the image when will i get to do a masterpiece like that.

I have only one concern. In your painting you got great detail and realism to all the characters. But my feeling is that you some how dint get the realism on the background structures. Thats my only comment. Its a great peace of art.
