Just booking my myth before anyone else does :p

Indra : God of war, lightning, weather and general of an army of warrior Gods, called Devas, who are locked in constant battle against evil and wicked monsters. Rides a wild elephant with 4 tusks called ''Airavata". Favorite weapon, his lightning based ''Vajra" though he can use a bow as well. Father of the popular Indian hero, "Arjuna"

Thought by some researchers as the Indian equivalent of Thor/Odin or Zeus.

Concepts in a few days.

Ok, after much (zero) thinking i have decided to put my 'Indra' solely in the 21st century. I'm assuming that this is alright, since the rules don't say anything about having the mythological figure be in the correct time period.

So anyway, here's the description to start off with:

The character is based in an uncertain era, most likely slightly in the future. The idea is that with the coming of the Age of Kali, Gods like Indra have been mostly forgotten. People don't worship him, many don't even know his name. Because of this he has lost his immortality and most of his power(s). The host of warrior Gods he once commanded disbanded long ago. The other minor Gods of wind/fire/water etc faded into the void soon after as humanity learned to control and harness the elements directly. Major Gods like Shiva, Vishnu etc are still well known/worshiped, but no one knows where they are anymore (or at least Indra doesn't know) It is rumoured that they have grown sick of humanity's wickedness and have abandoned it to it's own devices.

But in all this, Indra still has a job to do. Evil continues to flourish, as do it's twisted servants who would like nothing more then to plunge all creation into the Abyss. So what's a forgotten God with a talent for slaughtering monsters to do ? Why, put on a bad ass leather jacket and load up on guns of course. Lots and lots of guns :p Including his favourite "Vajra", which over the centuries has been heavily modified and now looks suspiciously like a high powered shotgun. It shoots lightning though...

Images to follow soon... crappy drawing alert, you have been warned :D

Finally got some free time to work on this so here's the concept. Pose is not final as yet, i'll try to think of something more exciting.

Thanks for viewing... ;)

How can we believe he is Indra?

i believe u should retain some of indra's ornamentation. besides, his guns and ammo should look like modifications of old weapons instead of giving him completely new weapons. i liked ur concept when u had written abt it. but now it just looks as if its a modern-day guy loaded up on modern-day arms. i cant see indra somehow. try to do something abt it. good luck!!! :)

I think you should change the weapons. Indra's weapon is VAZRA so you should keep it with him but in modified version.. that will be great....
I have some links to you I think you should see them they will be helpful to create an Idea about your concept.

I have to say,the character really does look good, but I do have to side with the others on this - it WOULD be nice if he had weapons which give us a hint of his divine ones. Also, maybe it's just me,but I feel he looks a bit too old. Otherwise, a completely fantastic concept. Keep it up!

Thanks for finding those refs, but they arent really what i have in mind. Even though the artwork is superb, the designs are the same old cliched stuff we see in TV serials and movies: dhoti, jewelry, crowns, trishuls and so on. I dont think that would work for this challenge since we are supposed to redesign everything.

Also,maybe it's just me,but I feel he looks a bit too old.

That's intentional. Indra is an old God, perhaps one of the oldest known Gods in Indian mythology. And in my concept he is also slowly dying due to loss of followers. That's why i'm trying to make him in the 30-40ish age bracket. Plus i get really bored seeing all these young 'heroes' in games and movies so it will be fun to create an older guy for a change :p

I agree about the weapons though, and i'll work on that...

Hi Ghonma,
You can design him as you like no restricti0ons but if king of gods is
part of the description he should look the part in the final sculpture.

Well more like retired king of the Gods really, but i see what you mean.

Anyway while i figure out the design, thought i should start working on the pose/composition also. So this is my first try at it...
