Hi, Feeling great to participate in the sculpture of Indian or Greek mythology challenge.

I would like to stick on a hybrid character called PAN. I have collected some article about him and Here i am submitting them to know better about him.

PAN was the god of shepherds and flocks, of mountain wilds, hunting and rustic music. He wandered the hills and mountains of Arkadia playing his pan-pipes and chasing Nymphs. His unseen presence aroused feelings of panic in men passing through the remote, lonely places of the wilds.

*THE NYMPHAI (or Nymphs) were female spirits of the natural world, minor goddesses of the forests, rivers, springs, meadows, mountains and seas.

Pan inspired sudden fear in lonely places, Panic. Following the Titans' assault on Olympus, Pan claimed credit for the victory of the gods because he had inspired disorder and fear in the attackers resulting in the word 'panic' to describe these emotions. Of course, Pan was later known for his music, capable of arousing inspiration, sexuality, or panic, depending on his intentions. In the Battle of Marathon (490 B.C.), it is said that Pan favored the Athenians and so inspired panic in the hearts of their enemies, the Persians.

The concept art on this character (as per rule) is on progress. Will post them as soon as i finish them. Cheers !!! :)

umm... i was just wondering.. that he doesnt look like a god.. hes more like a slimar version of those minitaurs in narnia, as in he looks like he belongs to a race, more than seeming that he is one of a kind, i like the staff it holds some good mystical feeling.

Hi crunk, thanks for the comment.:) Offcourse everybody know that PAN is a well known familiar character as you mentioned. But, i should stick on to the real character look as per greek mythology (as in the picture). At the same time i should show the difference also (as in my concept art). I think you can make it. Till i get comment from Mr.Thomas, i am not sure too. :)

no one said that u should stick on to the real characters looks.. and in my prefrence it is best if u dont.. and let ur imagination flow.. the image u showed of pan is what it has been portrayed as through the generations.. but its could be just a legend.. now its time for u to give that legend a new face.. well the concept u have done.. is quite good..but it just looks like a normal minitaur.. it doesnt have anything godly to it na?

What you have done is original, so stick with it and improve it.I would suggest freak and do several versions.Push the limits of imagination so to speak!
