Matchmoving is the process of creating 3d camera with exact parameter like focal length.film back, camera height, principal point etc by evaluting the live action footage,Before camera tracking first examine the type of camera movement such as panning or zooming,u hav to treat diffferent method for various type of camera movement, for this u have go through basic.Invisible Art of camera tracking is the ultimate book for ever,go through it,

survey data is the information about ur set, length and height of object which are the part of ur scene, this is always done by professional,he collect everything such as height of camera, focal length, what type of lense is used, camera type from the set and cinematographer and submit the data to vfx superviser, after getting survey data,ur job is easier,u put the value in matchmoving software and solved the camera,

hi sahupriyabrata,
When I enter a survey data, say some 4 points making a plane, then it generates a plane on the grid, I am finding it difficult to align it to the cg world. So what I did was took 4 points and in polygons using create polygon tool I made a plane exactly where the track points are in the 3d world. Is it correct or there is a better way to do it.

Can u tell me,where u got ur survey information, what is the requirement of tracking in ur footage, what type of camera movement ur scene have,do not practice in a horribly way ,first go through abt tracking and matchmoving, intially it should be better to practice with simple camera movement like normal panning and zoomed shot, putting survey data is a professional works,u can practice it later
thanx

Actually sahupriyabrata, I have no survey data in the footage I am working on. The camera is rotating around a book, which is lying on a ground. Initially I have done a abt tracking only which has come nicely.
