Hi Guys,
My latest work done for a client. Two options were given to him.
( Friends, thanx for the solutions you gave to my previous posts & queries, i could overcome many problems in this project ). Could not work on rounded corners @ edges as the time was too tight for me.
C & C are very much appreciated.

one crit - vegetation looks very flat, may its because of the colors,, too strong and its same everywhere,..
also it ll be nice if u can reduce the camera hight,,, (personal choice ,, hiiiiiii)

Guys,
I have some serious probs with my Max9.0 / Vray 1.5 RC3...
When i choose "Direct 3D" Option in the "Max graphics mode" & try to open a vray scene.. it gives an error msg saying "An error occured ..... ( pls find attached image no.2.jpg ).. This doesn't happen in the modeling stage... surprisingly when i start giving materials/ textures to my model suddenly this errors comes in .... I am using a Nvidia Graphics Card...
Note : I have noticed this problem only after upgrading to vray1.5 RC3... previous versions dint have this problem.
Due to this i am unable to make use of my graphics card and rendering is taking time ...
Please some techie gimme a solution for this ....
Attached the sequence of images "1,2,3.jpg's" for the reference.

in my opinion firstly try to make the changes in the 3d software ...make the display as opengl or from the software itself and then restart max and try and open the file
i hope this helps
looking at errors, i believe it doesn't relate to ur graphics card. but it's something wrong in your scene. "Save As" file and default "standard material" to all objects and render with default scanline renderer again. see if this works. there must be problem in ur scene with materials or modeling.

guys..
d-neo : changing the graphics mode to open GL or software will work but it doesnt help bcoz the maximum usage of graphics card and redrawing calculations are taken only in "Direct 3D mode"...
jigu : ya probs is not with graphics card.. but i cant saveas the scene into standard material bcoz i am using Vray render engine and i need to use vray materials only with "Direct 3D" graphics feature.
Please someone give me correct solution for the problem....
dude you are going all wrong. Graphics card doesn't affect rendering times. Graphcs card are just to get better performance and speed in viewports.
Yeah i said to use standard material to know that probs are in the scene with your materails. Try this. Open max and merge the whole scene. and use vray render. if it still gives a error. assign standard material to all object and render with vray. if it render fines. give material to one by one object and render. so you can find the error in the materials.

or u can even try and override the materials and try rendering it if it does render then u knw the problem

i think its the prob with ur scene,, if u r in a middle of project n have tight deadline,, change to opengl n finish the work,,
but u should find wht couses the error ,, try one by one,,, r u using latest service pack for max 9 ? also chek for some missing map in material editor ,, max 9 gave this kinda error some times for wrong texture path,,, go to file-asset tracking. then refresh it ull see wht all textures r missing in the scene...
give a try n see ,, but dont screw things at middle of a project,,, hiii

do this .. copy all the texture maps n materials in the same folder as where u saved ur max file ... this should work .. i guess u have a prob with unc or direct file paths

or evn may be ur max file is currupt . . just resave all the models except ur car ones and merge it in a fresh max scene .. this should work .. ur errors is not relevant to vray or graphics card .. its an internal max file curruption.

Guys thanx for u r replies ....
jigu.. ya graphics card doesn't effect render times.. i know it .. i am referring to redrawing problems caused when we shift from direct3d to openGL... the acceleration speed is the best only when used "direct 3d" mode. Thats what am trying to say...
d-neo: it doesnt give me a chance of applying override materials... once i open the scene in "direct3d" mode, before the scene is loaded completely i get error msg...
Mukks : ya, on short deadlines i am doing the same thing as u suggested. Hmmm, i think "wrong texture path" could be the probs, but am not sure...
I create a "Set project " folder and load all textures in the "scene images" sub folder... but sometimes for some objects i directly give path of a image which is some other drive.. may be it could be bcoz that.. ill try and see.. thanx :)
Not using service pack :( .. downloading it right now :)
Kippu : am sure scene is not flat ... i took lots of care with lights and render... usually the word " flat" is used if the scene doesn't have proper shadows or very light shadows.. but this scene has quite perfect shadows i believe.. anyways thanx for the suggestions :)
MaxGuru: Ya, i guess it could be probs with some textures path as Mukks also said .. will give a try and see..

service pack upgradation also dint work...
configuring paths correctly into root folder also dint work .....
PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS.....

did u checked via asset tracking,,, ? looks like u bring some cars n trees n all from libraries na,,, ?
wht bout those cars ? remove it n give a try... check one by one dude,,

ya mukks i tried with asset tracking and replace all missing files .. but dint work..
ya i do get cars and other stuff from library.... but dint try removing them.. lemme try ... will let you know .. thanx :)

Hey mukks.. have you worked on Vray Sun & Vray Physical Cam for exteriors.. ? if so, how do we control shadow intesity yaar... i tried, but shadows are too dark and i dint find any parameter to control the darkness of the shadow.
Would appreciate response from other's also....:)

i worked with sun n sky,, but not that much,, just few tryouts,,
i think u cant control shadow of a vray light,, but u can increase secondary GI to get more detail for shadow areas...

to get proper working of sun and sky its imperative to get hang off vray camera and also LWF ....in short a lot of parameters :)
