Posting after a long time, I am mainly concentrating on my animation...but I hope I can take some time out and try something like this :D ...Max 7 and vray...comments and critics are welcome.

There is too much Blur/Grains in ur DOF ( on the top part of ur image)
the beaks colour is very bright, reduce that and looks a little flat as of now

Y not tell us on how u did this ? , may be post the wires , lights, rendere used ...etc,,
that wd be gr8!

glad you liked it...i noticed the DOF error, corrected and uploaded it...please see it...about noise i rendered it with lower values will correct it soon...no lights in the scene...i used vray to render...in that we have a option of overriding Max's environment...i used that option..it gives somewhat skylight like effect, and of course global illumination with irradiance map...for hair i used default vray fur available with renderer...have a nice day
