Hey...Can u plz tell me wat does depth of field map do....i hv never used it my works n hv never saw anybody using it...

i will try to explain, zdepth is the zth distance from your camera view, just go to render elements in your render dialogue box and add Zdepth in it, apply the minimum and maximum values of camera distance and then when you render, the zdepth map will pop out....save it as bmp and use it in DOFpro or photoshop.......i have used DOFpro cause i can adjust the focal distance very properly in it

depth map can be used to create varies effects, for example DOF, fog etc etc..

here he used that to create 2d DOF ( depth of Field) as post work.. i think he used PS for that..

in photoshop add ur depth map on alpha channel then give a lens blur filter ...on lens blur -select depth map source as alpha... then clik on where u need to focus.. thats it....

give a try,.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

i never knew texturing and i learned some video tutorials of texturing during the challenge, but i was pissed with the uvcoordinates so i decided to use Shellac and Vray Fast SSS shader in combination, i wanted to show gloss along with the skin like material on the ants body because ant body is usually hard here are some screen shots of my material editor........

i used shellac and in that used VrayfastSSS and Vray material in combination, Vraymaterial was for the gloss reflection and FastSSS for skin......the outcome was a toon effect and i also applied Vraytoon shader to the ant character
