Hey All,

Since their are many new members who are not much used to of using a forum to make the best use of it, lets add up some tips tricks for them to use it effectively. Ill keep adding things that come to my mind.

You all are welcome to add-in your points too.

So here we go -

1) Get Subscribed to a particular forum section - Suppose you want to stay updated with the "Modeling Sessions" forum section so that you get to know when a session/challenge is starting up. Or you want a mail notification whenever a new thread starts in the "Events" section -
Go to the forum section > Forum Tools > Subscribe to this forum

eg. TO subscribe to the Modeling Session (http://www.cgtantra.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=46%22) section - Click on the link and click on Forum Tools> Subscribe.

You can choose their to get notified Instantly, Daily or Weekly.

2) Upload your artwork on cgTantra - The new users who are not sure how to post their artworks to showcase in Finished Work or Work in Progress [WIP] sections, you can do this by any of these ways >

Posting Image 1 -
i) Go to any if the image hosting sites like -
www.imageshack.us (http://imageshack.us)
www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com)
Follow the easy steps to upload your image to these sites. After uploading you'll get a url of your image, Copy that.

ii) Go to the section you want your artwork to be listed E.g. Finished -2D, Finished 3D, WIP 2D or WIP 3D. Click on New Thread > Fill the subject of your artwork > Write a small description of your artwork > Click on the Insert Image Button http://www.cgtantra.com/forums/images/editor/insertimage.gif and paste your image url.

[In-case you cant see the Insert image button or a toolbar on the textbox, you may have to go to your UserCP (http://www.cgtantra.com/forums/usercp.php) > Edit Options (http://www.cgtantra.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions) > And choose Standard or Enhanced Editor in the bottom of the page.]

Posting Image 2 -
Now here's the easier way - You dont have to go to any other site to host your image. Start your thread, write about your work and click on "Manage Attachments" in the bottom of the page and upload your image from your local hard disk !

3) Showcasing an Animation Clip or a Video - Host your animation video on any of the free n famous sites like Youtube, Jumpcut, Vimeo, Google Videos. Get the Embed code after uploadin clip, and directly paste in your post and Booom... - Watch that clip of your right inside cgTantra. Like this shortilm hosted - LINK (http://www.cgtantra.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=85)
You can host videos till 100 MB of size on those sites totally free !

I hope this thread will help you make a better use of cgtantra. Feel free to shoot any queries you have. Ill keep updating this post with tips.

Cheers !

Surely it is...
Just upload your video on any video sharing sites like youtube, vimeo, jumpcut etc., copy the embed code provided by the site and paste it when you create your thread. Any problems you face.. just mail us to techsupport@cgtantra.com.
