<p><font size="2">It?s really amazing what you can do when you apply a little
mathematics to your nose. Bill Riley begins his demonstration by
tapping a few keys on his laptop computer and making a bold promise.
?The face of animation is about to change.? As if on cue, a human actor
appears on screen and reads a line from a script. In the next panel, a
cartoon character who looks nothing at all like the actor?nothing like
a human being for that matter?repeats the line. Its facial movements
are so perfect I can imagine rows of animators with their noses pressed
to their drawing boards, making this feat possible. ?Now we?ll do it in
Chinese,? says Riley as he pecks at a few more keys. This time, even
though every sound of every word is entirely different than English,
the cartoon character?s face moves in perfect lip-sync. Unless I had
been told otherwise, I would have sworn this piece of animation also
had been custom drawn.&nbsp; <a href="http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/computers/1278216.html" target="_blank" target="_blank">Read on...</a></font></p>
