Hi Nidhi.
Saw it yesterday. We are heading in the right direction. I am specially interested in the render api to integrate with external renderers. I am currectly toying with 3Delight, a renderman compliant renderer.
Oh!! Almost forgot. i cant wait to try this out.

We should think about it this way. Blender's leveling the playing field of 3d softwares. Making tools accessible to the artists at a reasonable price (0.00 $/Rs/Whatever) and not trying to dominate any software. What say you?

Hi Guys :)
Great we get a blender only forum :P never thought that would be possible here at cgtantra kudos to the team.
Satish were able make it work (3delight?)
I think the rendering API will be the biggest thing to have happened to blender since yafray integration, you give better tool set to the artist and they produce better results ;) its that simple really ;)
I was hoping that we get proper support for PIXIE its and excellent renderer of course renderman complaint as well.
These comparisons with other apps are not needed IMO, we should rather produce good art from blender than comparing or bashing other packages. If some one has to get impressed with blender I think it will be primarily from the results and secondarily with the features.
Cheers!
