Hye guys...been looking to post some new stuff i've been working on! Just finished a final render of Mr. Clint Eastwood...as in Dirty Harry movie.
It was an attempt to match him as close to what he looks in the movie, and I'm happy its pretty close to that :)
Imported with a very basic head imported from Maya and detailed it in Mudbox. Final render done in 3dsmax with Mental Ray.
SSS shader for the skin with some basic spot lights. Fair bit of compositing used.

And the digital sculpt...screengrab from Mudbox.

And this is a character test i have been doing here at our studio...i did it some time back and have posted this on finished section already.
But for some reason that thread is lost in space...so thought you might be interested in seeing it again.
Anyways this was detailed in ZBrush while setting a pipeline for the games we do here.
Texturing is done in zb aswell with photoshop. Hairs using 3dsmax inbuilt hairs system, rendered in MR.

hey...gud work bro...alwayz nice to see sum1 nailing similarities...but i guess i'd share some critcs if i must...

Clint Eastwood model...
1. shouldn't the specular be broken down a lil'...it just luks too even...
2. the overall feel of the pic luks like a painted picture than a realistic model(unless u were striving for the former)...i guess its ur skin shader.
3. if u've used ZB normal maps or displacmnt maps...neither of 'em are shown me the skin pores(one of the most subtle things to come close to realistic models)...did u try a bump map instead??

Production Model...
1. i think his eyes lack realism...maybe it needs a reflectivity map,
2. a lil' too symitrical...too perfect for nature...don't u think so?
the shader n texture on this model kicks serious butt...is he a game model...can't wait to play it then...
3.woul love to see some polyz count n wireframe...

gr8 hair on both the models...guess i'll have to revert back to Max too(currently studying Tom Alter's Shave n Haircut for Maya...heard its pretty similar to Max).

keep the gr8 work comming....

best of luck.

thanks for your amazing replies guys...i'm really overwhelmed!!

ronybuster: I'm glad that my work inspires you, and i have commented on your model...hope that helps =]

hells angel: thanks for dropping in man...cheers

Sachdev: thanks buddy for your words..n i keep tryin to make more realistic models...

Ekalavya: thanks for your stars :D

Smooth Criminal: Thanks for your words buddy...and yes i'm aware of Dirty Harry game done by The Collective Studios (and IMO model in their cinematics doesn't look that great). And i was actually being contacted by them when they saw this model "much said". Here's the link for the cinematics they did...

mukks: yes i am a moderator now and no i don't block any private messages from any user. if you want to point out any thread...just send a PM to any mods or admins.

sohanj: great to hear those words...and yeah i was landed from Healix, a planet close to mars JK =D

Rao_B: Thanks

koolnits: appreciate your words and i must clear that the denim shirt is a mix of photograph. When i am creating a visual image, specially a still one, I don't bind myself with just one method/means. For me a final image is like an art piece, and i use 3D+handpainting+photography+compositing to produce the final imagery. Yes being a 3d artist, major portion of it has to be 3D!

Mojo_Jojo: thanks for dropping in carl...yeah hairs are bitch to handle and yeah where's chotu??...haha wud love to cu guys again...!

patidarshyam: cheers

andy_maxman: hey man how's it going. thanks for your words bud and i love the little gangsters in ur avatar. Cute!! =]

akhenatan: cheers man and yeah I've liked Mr.Eastwood for long time aswell...was just waiting when i get chance to model him and i did :)

4th depth: thanks a lot for your critics...its very important to point out different POV's in order to make a realistic looking model, specially if he's a famous personality. I agree to some of your points as they makes sense.
Yes specular and texture map both needs work on them and they are too even. Coz i haven't used any tex/spec map on the image i posted. Just a SSS shader with some generic bump/diffuse maps generated in 3dmax itself.
Now that i get back to it, i think it would have looked much better if it had separate maps. So i'm working on diffuse, specular and reflection maps now and posting an update of that. You can see more details in skin with pores and stuff. For the second model, yes its lacking a lot of basics but i have learnt a lot from it :) Thanks once again for your comments.

aspan: thanks

kamalpahuja: cheers for your words man and again your arrangement for delhi workshop was worth appreciating. Hope to see you again when i'm there.

ranjit_patra: cheers

thanks a lot again for your amazing words guys...inspires me to do better job!
here's a little update...It didn't had any textures before but just a basic SSS shader, and was lacking skin detail. So thought of making textures from scratch. Hand painted color map painted in zbrush and photoshop.
I'm working on image based light setup(hdri kind) and i'm sure it will enhance the final render more. Will post the hairs render as its a saparate pass. Comments are welcome...
