my advise...set a deadline.....set out a schedule.....or this might
take a lot longer....as soon as u master one aspect(modellin.texturin,
animation...etc.) make a reel highlighting only that aspect and join a
studio as a fresher.this will prevent the freakin out part.....growth
from there is totally upto ur dedication.
i'm sure its the rght decision....work without passion sux,...all the best dude

thank you andy and hell. i will try my level best. . i was in two minds about the specialization thing. should i go for only modeling or only animation etc. or a little bit of them all on my demo reel. thanks for clearing that up.

come to think of it i gave advice to a few newbies here on cgtantra to specialize in a specific area of cg . it's just that when i concentrate on a single area of cg i feel like am neglecting the others. but i guess i will have to live with that.

thanks again.

yo fig Fish..whts the matter... see abot spelz. to do
anythn you have to model..texture and animate.. and to show it to
ppl u gotta render... so be a genarilist.. u will automaticly realize
ur speciality..

majority of the studios, hire for specialization value, & bcoz of multi skill, u might climb the ladder later,

let it be modellin, or animation r watever, but, to show amazing modeling skill, u need very good lighting also, like the works of aman akram. just an example

its diffcult to say... it depends like i may not agree
with hell...dynafx said the same thing tht i did eventully... its up
to...eithr get a job as a tranie or apply in a small size studio and
then like DFX said climb the ladder...

my opinion straught out..don't fear to QUIT and take ur pay check which
will help u travelling to various studios... go for it.... u can use my
bike if necessary its almost done...
hi there.....dolphin.....
You absolutely have a point in the specialization part......
jack of all master none...right?????
Each of the areas need an amazing amount of focus and study to get real good...
so sticking to any one will be a good idea......
kudos.....................................keep swimming.

p.s:what did u tell them when u left...."so long and thankyou for the fish"???ha ha...just kidding.
p.s:what did u tell them when u left...."so long and thankyou for the fish"???ha ha...just kidding.

now that u hav mentioned it, i will tell them just that.

i havent quit yet hyena, like i said this month is my last.

by the way,i hav heard that R&H uses their own proprietary software even for modeling and animation!!! is that right??? huh?
dynafx
23-01-2005, 01:05 PM

dont worry bout proprietary softwares, bcoz, any studio, will hire u for the skill u'vegot, like modeler, animator, fx artist r watever, & u'll be again trained to work in that proprietary software to adjust with the team & project.

so specialize in one subject, for which you'll be getting the job, & dont stop learning the other areas, if u want to climb up the ladder.
