View Full Version : Qiane - Goddess of Illusions [2D]

Shreya
28-08-2006, 08:43 PM
Goddess and Queen of Eithanas, Qiane is the personification of the
false realm itself. Or maybe Eithanas is just an extension of her.
Shifting between the living world and the afterlife, those who get into
Eithanas may not get out, unless the Goddess wills them so.<br>
<br>
The daughter of Rakhn,she inherited his power of weaver-magic. But
while Rakhn prefered to weave his way into the fates of the living,
Qiane wove her magic into creating her own world.Though, what her hands
created, her sight destroyed. So she veiled her eyes, content to live
in her own illusionary world and see through Valha and Mentit, her pet
crows.<br>
<br>
<br>
Shamelessly enough, I drew this character of mine prematurely only because I wanted to submit something for Exotique 2, haha .<br>

<P>superb work. beautiful colors, and a stunning pose. i love the mood that you have brought in. How do you choose your colors so nicely. i feel like a handicap when i confront a situation of that sort<IMG src="smileys/smiley18.gif" border="0"></P>
<P>I saw your sketchbook in other forums and they are very beautiful and inspirational. great going.</P>
<P>Hey, and do i see a hint of Aishwarya rai in Qiane? <IMG src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0"></P>

waheednasir: Thank you very much. Yea, I've been putting it up everywhere, haha.<br>

VishyP: Composition has never really been my strong point. I'd really
appreciate any thoughts on how this could have been better. I'd keep
them in mind for the next piece then :) Thank you!<br>
<br>
wozim: Thanks! I used Photoshop CS2. The .psd, after the crop is
5413px&nbsp; x 3200 px - my largest yet! My por little computer
couldn't handle it so I had to stick to a maximum of 2 layers at any
given point. It most certainly brought some discipline back into me,
haha.<br>
<br>
hells angel: That, or I gave up, haha. Thank you so much for the crits! I tried to fix the issues, hope it looks ok now.</span><br>
<span style="font-weight: normal;" ="bold"><br>
drained spirit: Thanks! About the sketchbook, I think that's what is
making me draw so much. I can be a lazy slob otherwise :) I would
highly recommend having a online sketchbook for everyonw, the crits and
encouragement really help! Aishwarya Rai huh? The eyes? hahah<br>

Hey shreya went through the cgsociety link and i found that full layout that is without croping the thing on which she rests good.... well i would like to comment on the drapes on her body... they need some more folds and on them especially the area arround her leg(top leg)and thigh...right now its creating a very solid sillhoute as it has very little amount of folds... it needs more detailing as well<br>

Exquisite!!<br><br>A Thought:&nbsp; An idea wud be to make another version of her, where you can see the stone railing at back of her, the ones you would see in palace's balcony. And then maybe sunlight coming on to her from one side and lighting her egde...like rimlight. Though it might be off topic thing, as the mood you got in here is perfect for the subject!! Just a thought tho.<br><br>PS: Love her face!<br><br><br>

Thanks for the replies everyone! :)<br>
<br>
<span ="bold">VishyP: That leg gave me trouble in genral, because
after adding the hair, her right leg started looking like her left leg.
So the folds there looked pretty odd too. I figured it was best to
leave it as it was, that to muck it up even more.<br>

stuff, especially hair. I'm sort of plannign a painting(or perhaps just
a sketch) with only that in mind, haha.<br>

<br>
</span><span ="bold">graftist: Thanks! :) I wanted a little bit of
an Orientalist feel in my painting (my original idea had even more
cushions and drapes) Olympia is close to one of my inspirations though
(Venus of Urbino). That pose just seems to project so much power and
strength. But then I figured that her looking away would be even
cooler. hehe.</span><br>
