it's good & impressive considering you are new in cg....

just a suggestion. things you might even know by now.
1) when you plan to do an exercise next time, try and get as many professional references ( live or cg ) to it as possible.
2) chose the best shot and try and replicate the camera / light /
shadows. this way you would get into the analyzing mode and would be
able to critic your work on your own.
-best and keep'emComin'!!!
Good job dude.. I liked ur modeling..

Note the points what ?Andy? said above...n refer some product photography references
on the net. See how the camera angles r...n even u hv 2 work on the lighting
which will reflect ur products richness..
From top view the glass is looking like paper 2 me... n that?s because of ur
shadder n lighting...so please work on it..
If the belt's material is steal, then add a little reflection with
falloff n also a little stretched noise...2 get the brushy look. Avoid
using max's default metal shadder it sucks...

Goodluck, n keep going...

one thing i know for sure (cuz i hav used max for a little time ages ago and a few times recently) is that lighting in Max sucks big time. the lights in ur scene are burning out all the features of ur wristy!!!!

underlighting will get u thru sumtimes, but overlighting wont...... reduce the intensity of ur lights a little bit.

so start using sum other software to render ur images and animations. (mental ray, renderman etc.) will do u lotta good.

and last but not the least, not bad for a newbie, not bad at all.....

all the best for the road ahead.

nothing to argue here......but i've seen some kick*** renders with
default max scanline render. and by and far it's among the best
software to learn from a newbie point of view.

Well well i dont understand why do you post things like that... like andy said... its pretty handy and all the hard work which discreet's R&D team are doing by introducing photometric lights mind you they have mental ray an V-RAy not to mention Brazil... they have a lot of backing and if you see some of the artist work on the web.. then you are in for quite a suprize....
