Hi! I am getting a weight value -1.#lO in some of the vertices while rigging my models. Can anybody tell my why is that happening.

And also I have rigged one side of my character, and i was trying to mirror the vertices to the other side , but couldn't do it since my mirror plane was not properly alligned to the character mesh. The mirror plane is not straight but a bit slanted. So i tried to reset pivot of my character and found that on returning back to skin modifier, whole of the mesh lost its allignment with the bone setup. Please help me . How can I make the mirror plane properly alligned to the mesh and bone setup after putting skin modifier?

Hi Eesh*ta

Pls be care ful about the pivots and spaces when doing 3d.They screw up at point of no return at times.
As for your first problem send me the file and i'll have a look at
it.#10 is probably the vertex no. and 1 is the weight assigned to it.

For the second problem, select your model, go to skin and under
advanced parameters rollout, switch off always deform option. After
switching it off, change the pivot point of the model to the center and
switch it on again. It should work.

Are you a student?

Cheers

Hi Sandy

Well I had that weight problem few days back and then i errected it by hit and trial. Though i actually wanted to know the reason of why that was there. It was a negative value and I also saw it in the weight table. Next time if i encounter the same problem again , I promise i will mail you the file.

And the mirror plane is not getting straight. When i reset the pivot of model, it leaves the bones and thus position of bones moves away from the model. And even on resetting the pivot of model, the mirror plane is not straight.

Next time i will surely be very cautious about the pivots. Yes I am a student ,currently working on my show reel.

check off always deform option first, then put the pivot back to the
center of the mesh, align it to the world from hierarchy menu as the
mirror plane will always use world and turn always deform bac on....it
should work.

good luck
