Hello friends :),

This is my recent Matte Painting. Took me around
10-12 hours. All the elements in this matte are painted except the
clouds, grass and building. Critics and suggestions welcome.

Thanks,
Balaji

hello balaji...:). looks nice. thought some areas appear to be too light and transparent, esp. those distant mountains. it would be nice to add colors to get a feeling of depth as well. i would personaly put some warm, sunset color, like orangish hue over all. stronger near the light source, sky gets that usually at that time. just some more time if put can make this even better.

this looks better balaji...:). surely a nice scene to look at. personaly i would take it more towards orange to give it a sunset feel, a bit saturated i say. but thats like my personal taste. uve done a nice job...:).

I am sorry for being harsh on some points here but i just don't like this work

the painting looks like crap to me..it isn't beautiful!!!!
->the sky looks tilted on out of proportion
->the road dosen't seem natural (its perspective is not right
and is just not painted wid the right tones and lacks depth)
->the grass on the lower left is an eye-strainer
->the distance mountains look like u were saving time and not paying attention
->the mountain and the green trees have seem tilted when compared wid the whole composition
->That tree near the building is taking the attention off it (as i
think the building is the centre of attention..and the tree is
distracting the composition)
->the tunnel door looks wierd
->the building and the wierd red thing above it are VERY UGLY

I am sorry if i am not yr usual encouragin guy...but i hope u can understand my point that

-> Really wrong things have been combined in a really NOT SO GUD looking fashion

I matte painting requires careful selction of pictures and by this work
it seems that u went really cheap when u were picking pictures for this
Compostion.....although the compostion is quite beautiful, but every
other thing is not at all pretty and shows a lack of effort.

U can give human aspect or presence in the scene by put on lights in tower windows and other houses on horizon if you want. That light makes real eve. effect. Right side land also been checked, current lights on that land shifted to right side. On the road light and shadow should be checked. Right side grass land's shadow should be longer (may be it covers road fully).
