Demi Moore Digital Painting (2D)

this was created 2 yrs ago... it took me almost a month to finish it,
carefully selected a picture of her that had a subtle pose, closeup shot...placed it in the background layer, opened the same file in another window n started off...
<strong>&lt; EVERYTHING HAS BEEN CREATED IN ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 7 &gt; no 3dsmax, illustrator was used, nor bits of photograph was rubber stamped or modified in any manner...</strong></P>
<P>my main goal was to c how far i could go creating something like this using a handful of tools in photoshop...believe me its not that easy..</P>
<P>most tedious parts were the feathers on her outfit...( not that noticeable becoz of the deep shadows )</P>
<P>the tools&nbsp;i used extensively for this artwork were</P>
<P>eraser &gt; smudge &gt; dodge &gt; burn &gt; liquify &gt; pen tool &gt; blur tool</P>
<P>i tried my level best not to use any filter...but liquify had to give me a lift...</P>
<P>lastly, lots of blending modes were used, </P>
<P>dodge &gt; multiply &gt; color burn &gt; soft light &gt; overlay &gt; screen &gt; difference</P>

<P>Great Work.... really very clean wrk... eyes, nose ,ears are perfect some how I dont feel 100% (is it&nbsp; just me) I mean the texture u have made is great but the lip shape esp at the ends gives it away.. some bends there would have really had made this a masterpiece.... Also can u poost ur reference alongside with which we can compare..it would be really nice...</P>

<P>its rather difficult to get that natural 'lining' around the face...which is actually bounced light from surrounding objects...thats pretty hard to master....<IMG src="http://www.cgtantra.com//forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0"></P>
<P>as for the workflow...i first started adding the main skin color....added shadows first....then highlights....workd on other details as well nose, eyes, lips etc....</P>
<P>also as to what u said that some parts have been cut out of the real image...</P>
<P>i wholeheartedly disagree with that... i dont ' cheat ' by taking pieces of imagery and placing it as my own...<BR>i like challenges... </P>
<P>i'm not a professional in sort of way... im a simple graphic designer ... trying to test his abilities... </P>
<P>yes, i do agree that i used the original photograph as a template and painted the 'entire' image over it rite from scratch... this is certainly not an easy task in any level of design... coz things such as color, lighting, texture, expression, mood all have to go hand in hand n taken care of with a 'brush tool, smudge tool , eraser etc.'</P>

Nice effort but TRACING Work..........keeping original photograph in layer and working over it. I have seen kind of work many time.....at once glance it looks very realistic....but using original photograph...is aint good idea.
