Sad to see the original topic closed already.

I would like to bring out another point.
First of all, let me say that I am not a pro in CG, by any means.
I just started learning 3D last Nov and don't come from an art background.

I would like to say that to develop CG in India, first and foremost the attitude of the Government towards CG in general, should change.
Very less has been done so far to promote art as a career. Even till this day, the common man in India does not even think of giving his child an art education.

I'll tell you how the Government can change this....
If you go back 5/6 years, you'll remember that there was not much of an IT education in India either. There were many ppl who got their so-called 'IT education' from private institutes like NIIT, Aptech etc.
See how the situation has changed now drastically!!
There are so many Govt-run degree courses available to the college student nowadays (B.Sc. IT, B.Sc. Comp. Sc., BCA etc.)
This has happened primarily due to the IT education promotion efforts made by the previous Govt.
IT education has already been made accessible to the common man. Banks giving loans to aspiring IT students have been asked to relax their criteria.

WHY DID THE GOVT. DO THIS?.............Because by that time, India had already become a major destination for outsourced projects sent by overseas clients.

In a similar manner, right now, India has slowly started climbing the CG ladder of the world.
The Govt. could do best to promote art, design, media, animation as degree courses/post grad courses.

As of now, to get a mention of art in your educational background, you have to have gone through an art school after your 12th.
What about people who have already graduated and are looking forward to getting into CG?? Do they have to go back to square 1 and slog in an art school?

Say, for example, someone wants to become an animator...........He/she should have the facility of a degree in animation. That is not there in India so far (NID and IDC may be the sources, but how many ppl do they take in every year?) And why are there only 2 institutes offering these degrees?

If the Govt can do something about this, I am sure the companies involved in CG simultaneously would also change their attitude.

<edited><editID>prithvi</editID><editDate>38280.0597337963</editDate></edited>
