READ THIS FIRST: Any resemblance to a certain
individual or company in my threads is a sincere and deliberate
attempt to point out ?what I think is bad or wrong? and not
coincidental. I respect and appreciate everyone?s opinion, but
BULLsh*t won?t be entertained as a reply or suggestion. If you want
to argue with me on certain points, please send pm to me. I don't
want this industry to grow as a traditional pot making industry of
India. I expect Indian CG industry to grow in a mature and healthy
way to compete with international standards within a couple of
years.

How to make life easy for CG guys in India. (Start now...so that by
2006 we can change it)

I think its high time to start making changes in this industry than
adding your one bit for negative points. Let me try to take each case
and recommend my suggestion

1. Studios are bothered about quantity not quality.
This is a general problem, which occurs when greedy idiots than
professionals manage studio. You can see many studios taking more
and more projects but not thinking of increasing their strength or
giving opportunities to fresher and bringing them up. This system can
only be stopped by a very old method known as ?unity is strength?.
People should start of talks with management regarding making a
standard pay system like US studios ? ?per hour pay? than per-
month traditional Indian system. Say a standard pay of Rs 75- Rs
150 an hour depending on the job, experience and show reel. A
strong evaluation system should be implemented all across the
nation to protect the whole industry from getting the curse of
overworking underpaid kids. When company?s starts paying an artist
per hour, naturally they will be conscious of man-hour utilized for
each project. They will start thinking of quoting actual expense than
under quoting which has developed as a cheap competition technique
across the territory. If company is aware of the fact that they have
to pay for what an animator or a modeler spends inside the studio,
they will implement the best of all supervisors and train them well to
utilize the manpower. Supervisors will learn to utilize the maximum
of workers potential during the working hours than giving an
impossible deadline and going to sleep which eventually makes staff
hang around the facility round the clock and start of political issues.
Since every one takes home cash on basis of each hours working,
staff will not think about ?when cat is away mice play? life. They
know they can go home after 8 hours and they get paid even if they
stay back. Someone should control the odd ones who roam around
pretending to work just to get the extra hours pay. This single step
can remove most of the troubles company and artists face.

2. People with artistic background vs Bcom/MBA turned artists.
I personally know many people from either category who deliver the
same quality of output. Artistic talents have a lot to do in this industry
and in India certificates also play a role. There are a lot of cases
where people go for engineering just because of parents pressure or
his teacher said so when he was in pre-university. Later these people
come to the CG industry and do wonders, which traditional artists
cannot do. He had art inside him and he became technically qualified
which made him powerful. So no way one can generally comment
that only an artist can be a 3d animator or modeler. Almost every
individual born on this earth has a taste towards art residing deep
inside him from childhood. It develops and comes out only if he
realizes that form of art and then gets the opportunity to be with it.
Many great artists became so called artists at a later age in their life.
Not during his twenties. Some even came to the field of art after 60?s
and has still left a mark in history. So, be careful while commenting
on non artistic crowd.
