Here is something which I'm working on. The night look has been done
using Photoshop, 3ds max and Digital Fusion. Basically, created a night
back plate using the original image posted below in Photoshop, created
a water displacement map in max and used it for creating the water
surface in DF.

The boat is just a very old rough model placed here to check the
reflection etc. I'm working on the boats at the moment, will keep
posting the updates...
as for the clouds and water, true, i agree. its still WIP. Haven't been
gettin time off late to resume work on this. But yes, the clouds need
work, actually havent worked on them at all, just toned it down to
darkness. And as for water, again, just a reflection plate, nothing
beyond that.
This is very good mate. I love all the details. I would however reconsider the lighting of the whole city compared to the brightness of the sky (second image). Keep up the good work man

nicely done.

but a point or two about the reflections, the reflection should seem to meet up from where the shot was taken; since light travels in straight lines. the reflections in water seem to be having an offset from the originating lights, which is not very pleasing to the eye and gives a more CG look to the scene. (please correct me if i am wrong.)

regards,.

PS: here is an example of reflections in water that the follow perspective and the view angle.
