hi!!! 
hey who all are interested in the cg competition ! 
what abt making ur own film and putting it up on the spotlight!!!
can admins arrange for the sponsorers!!????
it can be an individual or a group work!!!
I think it would be really good!!!
WHAT DO U SAY GUYS!!????
I think meetups would than make a sense and a purpose !!!
it can not be so early!! but we can make a start by SCRATCHING OUR BRAINS!!!

1) Arranging such a thing is the first most hard to do stuff, i mean gettting dedicated people, sponsors etc. 
 
2) And then, getting memebers here to actually participate - if time permits them to do this extrcurricular activity <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0"> 
 
now i am not saying its impossible,  we'll need  some really serious people to make this happen...<img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0">

apart from sponsors and time..theres also the question of the topic.....cos if that aint good...it wont work...like the last contest at 3dluvr which majorly bombed even after havin great sponsors....

its good to have contest, 
maybe to start, admins can start with modeling contest, like post the
profiles, and give a week deadline, letz c  howmany can do that 
 
lots of free models available, just post an idea, and letz have animation contest 
 
even simple intrstng topics, like thief running , suddenly enocountered
cop, police or watever, will make things intrstng, or atleast to start
of, it will help a lot 
unless, something happenin, its really tough to get sponsors, me too workin on it

the tshirt competition is gooda and can go on at the same time as this...coz then we can have both the 3d and 2d ppl gettin busy.........i think a modellin competition would be great for starters....no textures....that way it can be done real fast too...and not with profiles but on a specific topic......will give in some vaiation then.........probably after that there can be an animation contest on the same character......or a texture one.....at the end of it all ...we can have a complete object or scene or character purely developed in cgtantra......

well  i would go for the suggestion on what many of them have suggested that to start with modelling but i would say that whatever u modell bring in some good ideas and not only technically but try to bring in some concept !!!
I think the more good  the responses more better the admins will try for the prizes and sponsorers!! What say ABHI??!!!

and now its to the admins...sponsors and topic!!....i would suggest that anyone with ideas on what the topic should be please mail the admins..or pm them....dont post in here..........that way it leaves in the element of surprise when the final topic is out....and we wont have a majority vote on it incase the ppl dont like the topic.......gets really ugly then.....ideas on what the competiotion should be like...example..on modellin..or animation etc..can be posted here.....

ill tell you what.. why dont we have a project competiton... like we start with a concept competition, then modeling, environments, the fx etc etc.. then put it all together and we have a tantra short... well  it would be very intresting..

Why dont we guys be ready with our work what ever it may be  Modelling or efx or concept or whatever!!
just be ready with ur work because it may take sometime to comeup with things like this but we can easily participate when it is decided!!!

Hello, 
 
So we have Decided the Category is MODELING. 
We need to choose one topic. So  people please VOTE from here. 
 
1) Environtment  ( Future, War, Apocalytic, Historical ) 
 
2) Object  ( household, tools, weapons, ancient weapons, etc) 
 
3)  Character ( animals, humans(
based on personality, cab driver, astronaut, bike racer etc) or other
creature from a famous movie or caricature of a famous person) 
 
These are some areas i have tried to divide, althoguth the areas can go
on forever. I decided to minimise them to some interesting topics. 
 
So please let us know what u think should be out FRIST TOPIC in modeling. 
 
(eg: if u vote environment also tell us  if its future , war or blah blah )

though i participated in such kinda compt. in an indian cg forum be4 too...and sadly didn't got any reply so had to turn down...but then too...

Some thing i want to know before i say something -
 
 How many people are there for 3D.
 How many do Participate.
 
 You have selected three different sections.
 
 Do you know are there people who can really work on that those three sections.
 
 We have to have atleast 20 entries for each section to call it really a contest
 
 it would look bad if there are 10, 2, 1 on the different sections.
 
 Morever people like me wont go for characters for sure. and Hells wont really go for environments.
 
 So, naturally it would be in a mess. Also enteries cant be really compared.
 
 So, lets hit a common topic that people can work on.
 
 Modeling (anything in modleing)
 Texturing (anything in textures a common models and texture it)
 Lights(light a particaul given scene with mood)
 
 I guess many would participate as most of the 3D people do work on all these aspects.
 
 let me know about it I am in whatever is decided.
 
 As per now I vote for E N V I R O N M E N T S

Rocky... well  its gotta be somekinda landscape or it can even be your bedroom... everyone just says enviornment.. it can even be deep ocean or may be a T-Rex Tummy<IMG src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">.... I havn't seen any admin post on this nor has anybody else said anything about it.. so my guess it its not happnin....

u have to just creat your cretivity guys!! so it can be anything!! even fantasy ! if u can make things look convincing which even does not exist. so go ahead and sketch out wild,weired, funky, etc....

Fantasy characters .......plz 
 
Well anyway,I guess I am late for my opinion on this one,but after this
one we gotta have one with fantasy characters..high poly stuff and some
good rigs!! 
  Mmmmm....good rigs....will be a great idea to test my rigging scripts on those fantasy chars.

u can do whatever u want if u wanna do alone or with group or what so ever but there should be a good output!!!
and soulstation we have decided the topic and it is ENVIRONMENTS!! u can do any environments and any mode ie 2d or 3d and the final date is 31st of dec!!! 
i hope u r not lost now!!

Well .... What i mean about output is what should be the
final submission format etc. jpeg,tga 640x480 rtc... or rules saying
that iwe should submit all WIP images as well... i mean its not that
easy and besides we all need a one common server to put up owr images
cause u kno some of the servers can't sync sometimes .... and that
would be a major disadvantage to the participants.. I hope you know
what i mean.. ok forget sponsors or prizes... there should be atleast a
layout for the whole thing.. and the admins of cgtantra should also
contribute and work this one up... ithere should be some information on
the main page and a "contest QnA" forum as well where any participants
can ask for assistance whenever... there should be proper interaction
among the admins the judges(which also is not decided) and the fact
that how is the judging gonna take place..... i mean i can go on and
on.... but let this be more of a poll that we do want a cgcompetion...
You nedd to paln the whole thing guys so i would suggest that let the
admins sit and work this out.. at least all of us will have a better
idea as to how to go about the challange...Dont get me worng i support
such kind of events... and i too want this to happen more that anybody
else.. 
 
I hope i also made my earliar point.... hope u understand....

Hi, Well as Everyone knows this is the first Competition that is going to be held naturally somethings are going to go Haywire and also am sure they will be taken care off.
Regarding the hosts and uploading i feel that its upto a user where he has to upload. I mean one can use imageshack.uk or tripod. Depends. If i have missed something in regard to it i am sorry.
I agree with soul and d_janeshwar about a New Thread. Its a Compulsion.
Also atleast have a list of people who are participating.
Anways Best of Luck to all participants.

Make a section where people can have their own threads like Cgtalk has.
So that their work will be theirs. First make a new thread for getting the Attendance.
Then you can create threads.
All the work till the end will be posted in the same thread.

ok i agree with inxa!!!
we have to make a proper thread and a proper section for cg competition!!!
we have to make a list of people who r actually participating so i think we will get a better idea for web space!!! and it will help us in many other ways!!
the best thing would be to put up on the front page abt it!
let the people register!! lets make a form for it saying abt what kind of stuff people r making so there r no clashes of topic!! although there wouldnt be there but not a bad i idea for details of participants!!
we need to atleast start the Form or record the number of people participating!!!!

Thas a nice suggestion man Game Environment. I dont see anything why it should be allowed. Ofcourse it depends upon the Mod's and Meggs.
