to my knowledge i dont think there is any. u should try the engineering institutes maybe to get more details. Usually the arts institute in india concentrate more on the arts part of the gaming (game assets). but the real coding/programming is not much..

In that case don’t give up… another idea, try to find out friends on forum (may be CGTantra) who also want to learn it and have zeal to do so. Using any object oriented programming language like C++, C# etc try to make a game framework on top of an open source cross platform generic graphic engines like Ogre/Mogre or Irrlicht/IrrlichtCP etc. Using that framework make some tech demos and demonstrate what you practically did in your game framework ( Like state management, scene graph, shader pipeline, physics, sound and network API integration, GUI and event framework, AI. Routines, thread framework, script engine (like Lua or CS Script) integration etc). Please don’t use any authoring based drag and drop tools or off the shelf packaged code if you want to do game programming seriously in future. Artist team members can put there ideas and artwork to understand how to design game art under certain engine specifications. Try to make some art pipeline tools for them if you can. It is always an advantage for game programmers who know the asset pipeline as well. Definitely, you will learn a lot from that in fun way. Historically bedroom programming and self learning is the tradition of Game Industry. Your whole project and knowledge you will earn form it, definitely will help you to find out your future employers or game project you always dream about more than degree.

Thanks Susanta for this incredible information. I am interested in Game programming. Trying out the open source platforms is the best option for those who want to get into learning to code. They have extensive documentation and community forums online.
I would suggest trying out Blender for that matter. IRC is a very resourceful place to be when we have queries regarding open source platforms. Almost all of them have a dedicated IRC channel.
Looking forward to hear from more people interested in the field.

Hi techex,
My problem is kinda same.
I am also looking for some institute for Game Programing.
You can check out :
www.sageinfolabs.com (http://www.sageinfolabs.com)
http://aag.co.in/game_pragram.html
Can somebody suggest what are the options available for a Game programmer in India?
Is it worth spending Money and time over it ?
Also is there a good online course for the same.
I ask it here since there are about 433,000 hits on google.
